Navigating the 2027 Shift
Today marks the Spring Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere, while the people living in the Southern Hemisphere celebrate the Fall Equinox. What is equal is our sharing of the light: we all experience an even balance between day and night. Hence the name Equinox.
Together with Saturn and Neptune both having moved into Aries last month, the new moon in Pisces this week, Mercury ending its retrograde today, and the sun moving into Aries tomorrow, the energy is finally clearing up. If you have felt like living in a fog for a few months now, know that astrologically, there has been a lot going on.
Now seems like a good time to share more about the coming shift in 2027 from a Human Design perspective.
What are we moving from?
First, let me explain a bit more about what I am talking about when I am saying “shift”. Shift in what exactly?
Every one of us has an incarnation cross in our Human Design bodygraph. If you are fairly new to Human Design and had a session with me, we most likely didn’t cover it. This is because the incarnation cross is often something we want to understand from a mental place, and it makes little sense to cover this when it is much more important to learn about your energy type, strategy, and inner authority as a starter. This is, after all, where we start when we learn about our design.
An incarnation cross consists of four gates: The sun and the earth on both your personality side and on your design side. These four gates together make a cross. There are 144 incarnation crosses in total.
For Mother Earth, the incarnation cross lasts around 400 years at a time. The last time we entered a new incarnation cross was in 1615. We then entered The Cross of Planning.
The Cross of Planning, in short, means tribal survival through cooperation. The cross consists of:
The Channel 40-37: The Channel of Community. In here, we find the holy grail of bargains. “If I do this for you, you will do this for me.” For example: “If I work in your company, you will pay me.” And another example: “If I pay my taxes, the government will pay for my kids’ education.”
Gate 16. The Gate of Talent. This is the energy of the "apprentice" who practices a craft for 10,000 hours until they become a master. During the last 400 years, this gate drove humanity to perfect its technologies and arts. It’s the energy behind specialized laborers who spend a lifetime honing a specific talent for the benefit of the collective.
Gate 62: The Gate of Details. This gate is responsible for the "fine print." It’s the ability to take complex, abstract ideas and break them down into concrete details that everyone can understand. With the help of this gate, we have built massive infrastructures like hospitals and schools based on shared facts and repeatable patterns. It has been a “one size fits all” strategy for the majority of our huge institutions.
The Channel 40-37 is in the circuit of the tribe, while both gates 16 and 62 are from the circuit of the collective. This is the energy of “we”.
For a few years now, we have witnessed globally that the world seems to have gone mad and that institutions are falling apart. From a Human Design perspective, this is because we are gradually getting ready for the next incarnation cross in February 2027.
The earthly incarnation cross serves as a background frequency, moving into all of us. It also affects collective systems. Now, the energy that holds our current institutions together is slowly losing its grip to adjust to the new energy. Many of us are realizing that the old promises no longer hold. For example: “Work hard for forty years in any company, and you will be taken care of as an elder by our government.”
I also want to emphasize that it isn’t necessarily bad that many of the old bargains are breaking, but we need to understand that the safety nets we have relied on for a long time are changing. So must we.
What are we moving into?
The energies from the two different crosses don’t come with a switch that goes off and then on again on an exact date. The energies slowly fade and enter at the same time: The Cross of Planning is currently fading, and the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix is slowly entering. Yes, there is an exact date next year when we formally enter the new cross, but the process has already started.
I am sure that most of you know the "Phoenix" metaphor, but here we go:
The Phoenix is a bird that must burn to ashes before it can be reborn. If you have seen “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, you have seen how the bird all of a sudden goes up in flames before being born again a few days later.
It appears that we are now in the burning phase and that we will enter the reborn Phoenix in February 2027.
The Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix consists of four gates:
Gate 55: The Gate of Spirit. This is the "heart" of the mutation. We are moving away from seeking external abundance in what we often see as abundance today, like money, land, or property, and toward emotional spirit. Instead of asking "Is this profitable?" we will increasingly ask "Does this fulfill my spirit?" Abundance will be redefined.
Gate 59: The Gate of Sexuality/Intimacy. This gate is shifting toward deeply personal intimacy. With whom will I choose to be intimate when I don’t have to think of the tribe first? And intimacy doesn’t only apply to sexual relationships. This also covers friends, clients, business partners, and everyone else we choose to have some sort of relationship with.
Gate 34: The Gate of Power. This gate is about personal empowerment and pure power to stand in your own uniqueness.
Gate 20: The Gate of Now. This is the gate of the present moment. It is said that mindfulness comes from this gate.
The gates 34-20 together form the Channel of Charisma, where you have the opportunity to live in a perfect balance of yin and yang, should you be able to be in the moment, so you can control the power you uphold.
The 34-20 channel and the gate 55 are in the individual circuit, while gate 59 is in the tribal circuit. This means that the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix is the energy of “I”: Individualism, Self-Reliance, and Presence.
What Changes in the World?
Because the Cross of Planning is "dying" and the Phoenix is rising, we can expect several major shifts in how we live over the coming years:
The End of the Safety Net: Large institutions like schools and healthcare systems may continue to struggle or collapse.
The Rise of Individualism: Expect a "DIY" world. We might see more solopreneurs, more people being themselves unapologetically, and a decline in "blind loyalty" to gurus, companies, or nations.
The 2027 Mutation: Human Design predicts a biological mutation in the Solar Plexus, which is an awareness center and a motor center. Today, we experience emotions in a “high and low” kind of way. It is said that from 2027, we will experience our emotions more like clear vibrations of frequencies instead of the wave of emotions flooding over us as we feel today. The 2027 mutation also includes the birth of a new type of human, called Raves. We are yet to see what the future holds.
To say it with fewer words: We are collectively moving from “We” to “I”.
We can all feel the new shift that is coming, but how we respond to it and work with it depends on our unique bodygraph.
How to Navigate This
Since the collective "Planning" energy is fading, the strategy now is to stop leaning so heavily on external institutions and start leaning into your own strategy and authority. You will no longer look to a boss or a guru to tell you what to do.
Instead, you are encouraged to connect with your definition of abundance from gate 55, in the now from gate 20, by using your unique power from gate 34, and choose where and with whom you want to create from gate 59.
As we leave the Cross of Planning, we are seeing a shift where so-called standardized skills learnt by the expert energy in gate 16 and all the organized facts and details in gate 62 are being devalued or replaced by AI and automation, pushing us toward the more individualistic, "in-the-moment" energy of the Sleeping Phoenix.
Every revolution over the years has created fears and anxiety in our societies. I still remember when the Internet became available to most of us. We were told that so many jobs would disappear and that books would become old-fashioned. Today, we have many new jobs that didn’t even exist in the 80’s and 90’s, and books never went out of fashion (even though we experienced a shift from paper to digital, but that’s a different story).
It is natural to fear the unknown, but fear only anchors you to a life-or-death frequency. Instead, look to your own spirit for the abundance that exists in the now. This frequency of authenticity is the place worth landing in when we embark on the shift.
