There is No Such Thing as One Size Fits All in Marketing!

Have you ever tried on a piece of clothing with a label marked with “one size fits all”? And when you stand in the fitting room looking in the mirror and thinking, “what the actual have I put on? Is this a sweater, a dress, or bed linen?” Then you have had a taste of the illusion that one size fits all.

Because let us be honest. There is nothing in life that works for us all. Not even in business.

But, so much of the word out there is about “follow this template and you will be able to quit your job in 2 months”. Or “ do this and make 6 figures within 6 weeks”.

To be blunt: This is BS.

Because what might have worked for them is most likely not going to work for you.

We are unique. We are not copies. And therefore, we must follow our own codes.

It is often a waste of time trying to copy someone else’s blueprint.

What might have worked for one person might not work for another.

Take social media. I am not very active on social media anymore, simply because it doesn’t resonate with me. Writing longer content has always been close to my heart, and that is what I will continue to do. If I were to say that “blogging is the only way to get the word out about your business”, I would be giving false hope to a lot of people.

Because we do know that some people make a ton of money every month simply by sharing from their everyday life on social media. Talking all day long about all the topics in the world, often broadcasting everything from the morning skin care routine to making coffee to running in the forest to baking bread, in combination with commercials infiltrating our minds. Or dancing while making small info videos. Dopamine-filled content that makes us addicted to seeing more. Still, wouldn’t that be great if we all could copy that, so we all could be filthy rich?

But your unique chart, and especially your throat center, holds the wisdom on how you are here to share with the world.

Some of us can inform, inform, inform all day long.

Some of us wait for the invitation.

Some of us wait for something to respond to.

Some of us have defined gates in our throat, giving us information on how to speak up and what voice to use.

Some of us have an undefined throat that allows us to be playful in how we communicate.

Have I tried to fit in and follow a lot of tips and tricks? Oh yes, I have indeed. In my previous business, I spent hours weekly on my Instagram feed. I even outsourced my Instagram for a short period of time to grow my following. And boy, did the company do more than we had agreed on. They even pretended to be me and DM’ed people to make them follow me. I had no idea what was going on, but I, of course, have the responsibility since I paid the bill back then.

It turned out to be a sneaky sales tactic and definitely taught me a thing or two about staying true to my own values and ethics in sales, and to honour how I prefer to do business.

And after I learnt more about my Human Design and astrology charts, I know that I don’t do marketing in this way. This is simply not how I operate!

So, my fellow solopreneurs, who want to find your way in life and in business. Ask yourself these questions the next time you are tempted to buy a service that looks kind of one-size-fits-all:

  • Connect to your inner authority and check in with yourself: Does this way of marketing resonate with me?

  • Do I honour my energy type and any potentially defined gate(s) in my throat center by following someone else's road to success?

  • Can I sleep well at night after having marketed my offers to my audience?

Let’s move back to the fitting room and the piece of clothing you tried on, marked with “one size fits all”. You still don’t know if the piece of clothing you have on is a dress or bed linen. But when the office assistant offers to help you and you say yes, you receive guidance on what colors would increase your well-being, what shape of dress you would look radiant in, and some tips on what shoes to add to the dress. You leave the store feeling happy, content, and possibly a bit like a movie star on her way to a red carpet event.

This is my vision for you in your marketing as a solopreneur as well.

“Leave a little sparkle wherever you go!”

And show your gifts to the world in a way that aligns with your soul.
