The Crown Chakra
On top of our bodygraph chart is our crown chakra, one of the two pressure centers in our charts. The crown contains the mental pressure “to know,” while the other pressure center, the root, contains the physical pressure “to do”. Hence, these two centers want us to think and to stay alive.
For today, let us dive deeper into our chakra on top of our chart: the crown.
The theme of the Crown chakra
The overall theme of the crown chakra is inspiration, questions, curiosity to learn new stuff, thoughts, doubts, and mental pressure to understand and to start new things.
I guess you sometimes feel mental pressure, too. For example, what to have for dinner when I have friends over on Saturday? How do I solve this task at work? How can I understand what is going on in his mind? What to write about in the speech I am giving next week?
No matter how big or small the task is, we all go to our heads to try and solve almost everything mentally.
A defined crown chakra
About 30% of the population have a defined crown chakra, and I am amongst them. It meant the world to me to understand this, because then I could also understand the mental pressure I, and many more, am so great to put myself under.
As with all defined centers, the drawback of having a defined center can be that you become a bit fixated. When the crown chakra is defined, you can easily become less flexible in your way of thinking. Yes, I am guilty as charged, because when I have decided on something, I am not so great at shying away.
Overthinking and unnecessary pondering can also be a shadow side of having a defined crown chakra. The mental pressure you create can lead you to repeat your question over and over again in your mind, instead of letting the answer come in due time.
On the other hand, a person with a defined head center can be very inspiring to be around. Once they have taken in inspiration in bits and pieces and absorbed it, the internal inspiration is, after a bit of processing time, ready to be shown to the world.
An undefined crown chakra
Should you be amongst those with an undefined crown chakra, you are one of the 70% who can feel less pressure to figure things out. You can, on the other hand, if you are with someone with a defined crown chakra, lean into our way of solving things. But know that you can be free of all the traditional ways of solving a mental problem. You can even come up with completely new solutions for well-known problems! Great for inventing new ways of thinking.
You can also find joy in being inspired, and you can separate yourself from what is others’ mental pressure. You can use openness and curiosity over scepsis.
On the shadow side, you can experience that you easily lose your focus. You can even have worries that do not matter. I guess you have been told by others who want you to worry less, that "Worrying is praying for what you don’t want to happen”? It is easier said than done to quit worrying, right? And especially if you are brought up in a home filled with worry. Conditioning can be a hard thing to get rid of, but it is not impossible.
Biology and the Crown chakra
Have you heard of the pineal gland? Biologically, our crown chakra is associated with this little but very important organ in our brains, which produces melatonin. When we have a balanced melatonin level in our bodies, we can more easily maintain a healthy sleeping routine.
From a Human Design perspective, the pineal gland also contributes to regulating the flow of information between our crown and anja centers.
The pineal gland is also often associated with spiritual awakening, higher consciousness, and the third eye.
4 ways to best support our Crown Chakra
Whether our crown chakra is defined or not, this chakra is putting pressure on the anja center on questions we want to have answered. For our health and the sake of our surroundings, use these 4 simple ways to best support your Crown chakra to improve your everyday life:
Focus on rewinding in nature after a long day. The sounds from nature will do your crown chakra good. Chirping birds, leafs blowing in the wind, or the sound of waves are all oh-so-soothing sounds.
Establish a meditation practice with a focus on being present here and now. Practice mindfulness as often as you can. If you find it hard to be present, even for a minute, then I guess you need it even more. An easy way to find out where you are is to sit down for 1 minute. Focus on your breath only. Breathe in and breathe out. And see how long it takes before you have started to plan your activities for tomorrow.
Block out noise for a while so the crown chakra can get a break from all the hustle and bustle that surrounds us everywhere in our societies. While the sounds of nature do us good, the sounds of city life can be very draining. Put your phone in flight mode and give yourself a break.
Be silent. Each chakra has its sound, and the sound of the crown is silence. If you practice yoga, you probably already know of savasana, which is the pose where you lie on the floor, or put your legs up the wall. Let your body be in complete stillness for a while to rejuvenate your crown.
Take good care of your crown chakra. Let your mental pressure work without pressuring it, and trust that answers will unfold in due time.
